Job Description : We are looking for a highly-motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development and fabrication of high volume metal stamping dies. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, analytical ability, organizational skills and attention to detail. The mechanical designer will be creating and maintaining 2D and 3D stamping processes, perform detail designing, review and implement engineering changes and support tools during tool build He/She will also provide cross functional support and collaboration to other departments within Tesla as needed to bring stamping principles and processes to new areas.
– Ownership of stamping die tool design from strip review to tool buyoff guided by Tesla Global Tooling Standards.
– Create 2D and 3D tooling process – Surfacing.
– Partner with the Simulation Engineer and Design leads to make decisions impacting the quality of the tool.
– Review design concepts to align function and standards ensuring precise high-quality tool designs.
– Ensure Global Standards are followed and met throughout design process.
– May require leading additional designers at times.
– Support engineering changes to existing tools.
– Incorporate manufacturability feedback into designs to streamline Machining and assembly of tools.
– Work with Design leader, Program Manager, and/or Product Designer to identify necessary changes to tool designs to support product changes.
– Follow tool through buyoff, providing feedback and support where necessary.
– Provide scheduled feedback to management on job status and resource allocation.
– Provide input for departmental process improvements for future projects.
Educational Qualification : B.E/ B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering are eligible to apply or similar field.
